Janice L. Day, Certified Paralegal
Ms. Day has worked in the legal field since 2005 and in the area of domestic relations law since 2007, with a background in criminal law and civil law. She joined the team at Shoun, Bach, Walinsky & Curran, P.C. in 2007 and has since utilized her skills exclusively in the area of family and domestic relations law. She works primarily with Mr. Bonin.
Ms. Day graduated from James Madison University in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in Public Administration with a concentration in Criminal Justice and a minor in English. She completed her paralegal studies at Northern Virginia Community College in 2007.
She passed the National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA) Certified Paralegal/Certified Legal Assistant Exam (Certified Paralegal/CLA) and is qualified as one of approximately 14,965 paralegals nationwide certified as a “Certified Paralegal,” or certified paralegal.
Ms. Day is a member of the Paralegal Association of Northern Virginia (PANV); member of the Virginia Alliance of Paralegal Associations (VAPA); and a member of the Fairfax Bar Association Paralegal Section for which she has served as the Continuing Paralegal Education Chair and currently serves as the Activities Coordinator.
Ms. Drake has been working in the legal field since 1970, having worked in the areas of real estate, immigration, personal injury, landlord tenant, bankruptcy, criminal and civil litigation, corporations, and general practice, with an extensive concentration in family law since 1974. She is a member of the paralegal section of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association.
Ms. Drake joined the team of staff at Shoun, Bach, Walinsky & Curran, P.C. in 2010 and works primarily with Mr. Goldsby and Ms. Powell.
Ms. Fewell brings to our client base over 25 years of legal experience within the field of family law and domestic relations. She works closely with Mr. Shoun and his clients in virtually all aspects of the firm's representation, including preparation, exchange, and analysis of discovery materials; compilation of data and assimilation of financial charts for negotiation and litigation purposes; asset tracing; all phases of trial preparation; and implementing post-divorce division of retirement, liquid and real property assets.
Ms. Fewell is a member of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association (Paralegal Affiliate) and has been an active member of the Fairfax Bar Association Paralegal Section since its inception, and has previously served as Secretary and Vice Chair, and is currently serving as Secretary/Activities Coordinator. As part of her role with the Section, she is privileged to organize its winter and spring social events and administers the majority of its community projects in conjunction with the Fairfax Law Foundation. An active Fairfax Bar Association affiliate member, Ms. Fewell has also volunteered her services for a number of years to the Bar’s Law Related Education Committee. Ms. Fewell began employment with the firm in May 1992.
Ms. Hillyard has been working in the legal field since 2005, starting with employment law then progressing to family law in 2007. She received her Associate’s Degree from Northern Virginia Community College, and then graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Legal Studies from Kaplan University in 2010.
Ms. Hillyard joined the team of staff at Shoun, Bach, Walinsky & Curran, P.C. in 2010 and works primarily with Mr. Moher and Mr. Abraham.
Ms. Honeychuck has worked as a litigation paralegal since 1995 in domestic relations, consumer and landlord/tenant law and white collar crime and fraud. She joined the paralegal team at Shoun, Bach, Walinsky & Curran, P.C. in 2005 and has since utilized her skills exclusively in the area of family and domestic relations law, including equitable distribution of assets and liabilities, preparation and analysis of discovery materials, all phases of trial preparation, and the implementation of post-divorce division of assets.
Ms. Honeychuck holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Michigan State University with a double major in criminal justice and political science. Following graduation she joined the United States Air Force and served as an Intelligence Systems Officer until retiring in July 1995. Ms. Honeychuck completed her paralegal studies at The George Washington University in 1995.
She passed the National Federation of Paralegal Associations' (NFPA) Paralegal Advanced Competency Exam (PACE) in 2003, and is qualified as one of approximately 550 paralegals in the United States certified as an Registered Paralegal, or "PACE Registered Paralegal."
Ms. Honeychuck is a member of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association (Paralegal Affiliate); member of the Fairfax Bar Association and former chair of the Paralegal Section; founding member and former Secretary/Treasurer of the Paralegal Association of Northern Virginia; former President of the National Capital Area Paralegal Association; member of the Virginia Alliance of Paralegal Associations; and member of the National Federation of Paralegal Associations. She served as the NFPA PACE Coordinator for Registered Paralegal renewals from 2004 to 2009. In October 2010, she was elected to a two-year term in the position of Vice President and Director of Paralegal Certification on the NFPA Board of Directors.
Ms. Palmer has worked as a paralegal since 1998 in the areas of domestic relations, securities, taxation and immigration law. She joined the paralegal team at Shoun, Bach, Walinsky & Curran, P.C. in 2000 and has since applied her skills exclusively in the field of family and domestic relations law, including the areas of equitable distribution of assets and liabilities, spousal and child support, compilation of discovery requests and responses and all stages of trial preparation.
Ms. Palmer graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Family and Child Development. She is a member of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association (Paralegal Affiliate) and the Fairfax Bar Association (Paralegal Section).
Melissa K. Rose, Paralegal
Ms. Rose brings to our client base over 20 years of legal experience within the field of family law and domestic relations. She joined Shoun, Bach, Walinsky & Curran, P.C. as a paralegal in 2007. Her background includes expertise in all aspects of the compilation, preparation and analysis of discovery, child and spousal support, all phases of trial preparation, and all areas of equitable distribution of assets and liabilities.
Ms. Rose graduated from Northern Virginia Community College in 1995 with an Associate’s Degree in Legal Assisting. She is a member of the Paralegal Section of the Fairfax Bar Association and the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association (Paralegal Affiliate).
Ms. Zouras is originally from Chicago, Illinois, where she worked on the Chicago Board of Options Exchange and The Midwest Stock Exchange for nine years. Following which she was employed as an Office Manager for a large Chicago restaurant chain. In the spring of 1994 she moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where she worked as an Accounting Manager for a real estate franchise sales office. During that time she also held an elected seat on the Board of Directors of her neighborhood association. In Fall 1999 she moved to Northern Virginia and was employed as an Accounting & Benefits Manager for a prominent law firm in the City of Fairfax. Ms. Zouras joined the law firm of Shoun, Bach, Walinsky & Curran, P.C., in November 2007.
Ms. Zouras' responsibilities include financial administration, human resource management, benefits management, systems management, technology management, advertising, facilities management, and strategic planning.
On Tuesday, May 3, one of our partners at the firm, Albert Bonin, had the privilege of presenting with his peers a presentation on collaborative law to the D.C. Academy of Collaborative Professionals.
