Shounbach Participates In 2015 Foundations Career Day
On March 24th ShounBach paralegal Jessica DeVaughn participated in the 2015 annual Career Day held by Foundations (formerly the Fairfax County Girls Probation House). The Foundations program provides adolescent girls, who are currently involved with the courts, with an individualized, structured, and rehabilitative treatment program right in their local community.
Participants for the Career Day, which was held at the Probation House, included several members of the Fairfax Bar Association Paralegal Section, as well as Deputies from the Fairfax County Sheriff's Department, a local attorney serving as a Guardian Ad Litem, and a former Fairfax County school teacher. Foundations currently houses 10 girls, ranging from ages 13-16, who attend daily classes at the home. During the Career Day, the girls had the opportunity to interact with the participants on a one-on-one basis, asking questions about why each chose their profession, their work/life balance, educational requirements and pay ranges for their jobs, and how much fun they each have at work. After the question-and-answer period, the participants toured the facility and ate lunch with the girls.
Ms. DeVaughn looks forward to future opportunities to work with Foundations, and to further the knowledge, independence, and confidence of our youth!
