January 15, 2010 Following its successful sponsorship efforts with the Friends of Homeless Animals of Northern Virginia, Shoun, Bach, Walinsky & Curran, P.C. have sponsored two dogs and two cats with the Lost Dog and Cat Rescue Foundation. Thanks to the firm's particiipation in the Pals for Paws sponsorship, the caines (AJ and Alex) and the felines (Betta & Cavort) will be sponsored for as long as they are available, plus the two weeks they're on the "Recently Adopted" pages. December 24, 2009 News Channel 8, a local all-news station, did a human interest story about Shoun, Bach, Walinsky & Curran's three-month sponsorship of 132 homeless dogs at the Friends of Homeless Animals of Northern Virginia. The video is embedded below.
December 21, 2009 Shoun, Bach, Walinsky & Curran, P.C. came up with a new idea for giving back to the community this Christmas season. They decided to sponsor the homeless dogs at the Friends of Homeless Animals of Northern Virginia – all 132 of them. Shoun Bach will sponsor all of these dogs for three months while they are awaiting their “forever” homes.
December 15, 2009 Five Shoun Bach attorneys have been recognized by Best Lawyers of America, Washingtonian Magazine, and Northern Virginia Magazine as Northern Virginia's most highly rated attorneys in the practice of family law and domestic relations litigation. The five attorneys are Robert E. Shoun, Edward J. Walinsky, Gerald R. Curran, Albert M. Bonin, and Susan M. Butler.

Shoun Bach attorney Al Bonin has been selected to serve a three-year term on the Board of the Fairfax Law Foundation. Established by the Fairfax Bar Association in 1982, this prestigious organization serves the community by providing legal and other assistance to the poor and those with special needs; implementing community education programs; and promoting the improvement of the justice system. Al Bonin has been selected for membership in the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. Mr. Bonin and Ms. Garrett are known for their work in international family law matters, especially involving issues of custody and visitation. Mr. Bonin will be attending the mid-year conference of the Academy which will be held in Puerto Rico next year. The Fairfax Bar Association held its annual meeting October 3rd through October 6th at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. Susan Butler and Grant Moher were honored to be the only presenters at the conference in Family Law. Ms. Butler and Mr. Moher covered Family Law matters; mediation, arbitration and collaborative practice. Robert Shoun and Al Bonin also attended the conference. The Virginia Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers held its annual meeting in Washington D.C. on October 2, 2009. Al Bonin and his wife, Ginger, attended the gala reception held on the rooftop terrace of the newly established W Hotel, formerly The Hotel Washington. Mr. Bonin is a past President of the Colorado Chapter of this prestigious organization and a member of the Virginia Chapter. Mr. Bonin, Pamela Pacetti, Jan White, and Theresa Mihalik held a training seminar, The Basics of Divorce Law, before a packed crowd of Collaborative mental health and financial professionals. The three hour program covered the basics of divorce law for non-lawyers in Virginia, D.C., and Maryland. On September 8, 2009, the firm of Shoun, Bach, Walinsky, & Curran hosted a strategic planning meeting with the Collaborative Professionals of Northern Virginia (CPNV). The meeting was well attended and the firm hopes to host several more of these meetings in the future. The summer meeting of the Board of Governors of the Collaborative Professionals of Northern Virginia was held on September 12, 2009 in Kilmarnock, Virginia. Mr. Bonin was recently selected to serve on the Board. Mr. Bonin will also be attending the annual meeting for this organization which will be held in Charlottesville, Virginia on November 16, 2009. The Circuit Court Committee of the Fairfax Bar Association held its first meeting of the new term on September 16, 2009. The Circuit Court Committee studies and makes recommendations relative to the procedures and operations of the Circuit Court. Mr. Bonin is currently Vice Chair of this committee which will be holding meetings the third Wednesday of each month.

Suellen K. Honeychuck, RP was selected to be a member of the Committee that recently formed the Paralegal Section of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association.
Bob Shoun, Ed Walinsky and Phil Schwartz (of counsel) were recently named Virginia Super Lawyers, an honor bestowed on the top 5% of practitioners. Hope Rosen was named a 'rising star' as one of the top attorneys under the age of 40.
At the annual Elections Meeting for the Fairfax Bar Association Paralegal Section on June 24th, three members of Shoun Bach's staff were elected to serve on the Executive Committee. Jessica Mendez was elected Chair, Janice Day was elected Continuing Paralegal Education Coordinator, and Tina Fewell was elected Activities Coordinator.
Albert Bonin was appointed to the Executive Counsel of the Virginia Association of Collaborative Professionals and currently serves as Chair of their Outreach Committee. This Association is the largest group of collaborative professionals in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Grant Moher was appointed to the Executive Counsel of the Collaborative Professionals of Northern Virginia. He serves as their Membership Chair.
Shoun, Bach, Walinsky & Curran, P.C. has the largest number of attorneys in Northern Virginia practicing Collaborative Law.
Gerald Curran and Albert Bonin attended the American Academy of Matrimonial Law Management Program in Chicago, Illinois.
Edward Walinsky spoke at a ‘Second Saturday’ seminar given for attendees to learn about the divorce process. This seminar provides people with information to the legal, financial, real estate and psychological issues connected with divorce and separation.
Janice Day welcomed the attendees and introduced the first speaker at the FBA Seminar for support staff where legal assistant and paralegals learn the practical workings of the court system.

Albert Bonin was named a Fellow of the Virginia Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. Mr. Bonin is a past-President of the Colorado Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers of which he has been a member for 17 years.

Albert Bonin attended the First Annual International Collaborative Law Conference in the Southern Hemisphere. This Conference was held in Sydney, Australia.
March 16, 2009 Shoun Bach Moves to New Offices
After 19 years in the same Fair Lakes location, Shoun, Bach, Walinsky & Curran, P.C., has expanded its offices and moved its 25 full time attorneys and staff to 4000 Legato Road, Suite 400, Fairfax Virginia, 22030. The firm's telephone and fax numbers remain unchanged.
The move was prompted by the firm's need for additional space. At a time when many other firms are downsizing, Shoun, Bach, Walinsky & Curran has expanded its practice, with all 11 of its attorneys concetrating their practices solely on family and divorce law and five attorneys handling Collaborative Divorce cases.
March 3, 2009 New Shoun Bach Website Goes Live
Today, Shoun, Bach, Walinsky & Curran, P.C., launched a redesigned and updated website, with a more modern look and feel, a list of recent cases in the firm's practice area, and articles of interest to current and potential clients.
The new website also features new photographs of the firm's lawyers and playable MP3s of Shoun, Bach, Walinsky & Curran recent radio advertisements.
