Mr. Schmisek is a graduate of the University of Minnesota (B.A., 1998) and received his Juris Doctor from the Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota (Juris Doctor, 2001). He concentrates his practice solely on Virginia family law and domestic relations matters.

Mr. Schmisek's law practice includes representation of clients in all Circuit Courts and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Courts throughout Northern Virginia, including litigation of child custody, visitation, and support issues; spousal support; equitable distribution of assets and liabilities; and the negotiation and preparation of marital separation and property settlement agreements. Mr. Schmisek has also received extensive training in resolving marital disputes through collaborative law.

Mr. Schmisek has written appellate briefs for the Virginia Court of Appeals, the United States Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.

He is a member of the Virginia State Bar, the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, and the Fairfax Bar Association (Family Law Section), and has been admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.
